My cousin Madhu came running one afternoon, shouting ‘Look, there’s a miracle! A goat is pregnant. She doesn’t lay eggs!’ The elder members laughed and showed no eagerness, but she didn’t care about them. The only one she wanted to show the miracle was me. She grabbed my hand and dragged me to our neighbor’s house. We were on holidays to our native place. It was a village where all people lived
