I’ve been thinking of this since my 12th std, that how this quote is mistaken by the world.
“Behind every successful man there’s a woman”
Almost all the people would jump in and ask that why a woman should be “behind” and not standing with a man or in front of him?
Here’s where they mistake the meaning of the word “behind”
“Behind” symbolizes strength of a woman. Standing “behind” itself represents the LEADING position. Behind yet leading seems ironical, as it’s natural in quotes, proverbs, poetry, etc. If she stands in front of him, how is she going to support him when he falls? (If still you want literal meaning) Doesn’t that showcase her more powerful?
By brainstorming on things like, why she is behind and not with him or in front of him, you are unknowingly limiting the depth of the word and her ability which is beyond up and down, left and right, back and forth.
Of course a woman has much more to do than to just support a man. But that’s not the point of discussion here. It’s just about the mistaken quote.
